Shop SA wine for a good cause this Heritage Month – WOSA Over the Rainbow Fundraising Campaign

It’s been a tough year for South Africa. Businesses have suffered and people’s lives have been upended. While wine is South Africa’s second largest agricultural export, nearly 50% of the wine produced in South Africa is still sold within the country. This means that the Government’s decisions surrounding the nationwide ban on domestic alcohol sales had large-scale socio-economic implications for the industry and its almost 300 000 workers.

In order to support those in need, the Over the Rainbow fundraising campaign has been launched to support the South African wine industry. The campaign is running from 16 August to the end of October 2020. Funds raised will be donated to Project Pebbles and the Anna Foundation. These the two charity organisations focus on helping disadvantaged children and families in the Western Cape’s agricultural communities.

How you can help in Hong Kong

Simply order wine from any of the participating merchants listed below. It’s that simple! These participating wine importers will donate HK$10 per bottle of South African wine sold to the two charity organisations. Many of the merchants are also offering great deals from now until the end of October, including up to 15% discount and free delivery on South African wines (see details below).

“We are thrilled to see the broader wine community in Hong Kong’s support for South Africa and its wine family. The Pebbles Project and the Anna Foundation are close to our hearts and we are extremely grateful that so many importers are have joined this fantastic program”. – Marcus Ford, Wines of South Africa (WOSA) Asia Market Manager

About the charities

Pebbles Project helps children and their families by providing support and intervention in five key areas, namely education, health, nutrition, community and protection.

Anna Foundation addresses the educational and social needs of rural children, and helps them to build positive self-worth and self-respect through its 3 Rs Programme: Reading, Running and Right-ing.
