The South African Consulate – General HKSAR / MSAR has requested that the following message be sent to South Africans living in Hong Kong and Macau:
“The Consulate would like to urge all South Africans living in Hong Kong to join our Facebook page as this is the easiest way to communicate with a majority at one go. Granted, not everyone is on Facebook, but, ‘word of mouth’ is also very powerful and we trust that, as a community of South Africans, important news will reach a significant majority.
As you might know by now, the SA Government has undertaken to assist our citizens trapped in Wuhan. Should any SA citizen in Hong Kong contract the Covid-19 virus, please do inform the Consulate so as to give the Department of International Relations & Cooperation (DIRCO) a chance to make informed decisions and offer advice / assistance if possible.
WHO TO CALL IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY
Should you need to contact the South African Consulate for any emergency situation that we can assist with, the number to call is +852-56853603. Should you not get through to this number, please call the ‘Operations Room’ at DIRCO – a section manned 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The Ops Room in turn will make the necessary calls to get hold of the staff in Hong Kong (or any other country you find yourself in). The telephone number is: +27-12-351-1000 – ask for the Operations Room. We hope the information is helpful and wish you good health!”
