WWF Island House Beach Cleanup

WWF Island House Beach Cleanup

When two typhoons struck Hong Kong in late August 2017, the areas surrounding the World Wildlife Fund’s Island House in Tai Po were seriously affected with damage to the gardens and beach. The WWF organised a few beach cleaning operations and SAAHK members were lucky enough to visit the beautifully historical Island House on 9 September 2017 to assist with a cleanup operation on the beach area that borders the property. Island House was built in 1905 and houses the Island House Conservation Studies Centre, an education and conservation research centre that promotes environmental and cultural heritage education and accommodates school visits. World Wildlife Fund Hong Kong has been actively involved in the Southern African community in Hong Kong over the past few years, hosting one of the Mandela Day events that happen in the city annually.
